Minimally invasive surgery (MIS) is a general term used to describe a surgical procedure that utilizes a smaller scar, potential for a faster recovery, and a lessened amount of disruption to the soft tissue (muscles and tendons). MIS can be utilized in appropriate patients for joint replacement, trauma, and arthroscopic procedures of the shoulder and knee.
